Learning 2.0 Message
Welcome to Learning 2.0, an online self-discovery program that encourages the exploration of web 2.0 tools and new technologies, specifically 25 things.
This blog has been set up as part of Whitby’s 25 Things, a learning program that will encourage all of us to learn more about emerging technologies on the web that are changing the way people, libraries, and society access information and communicate with each other. The program aims to show you and your colleagues 25 Things – new (and not so new) web tools and trends that are increasingly popular in libraries and increasingly popular with our patrons. The design of this online program was completely built on Web 2.0 technologies that are freely available on the Internet. These sites include: Blogger, Flickr, Bloglines, PBWiki & YouTube.
This blog will highlight “25 Things” and exercises to help you become familiar with blogging, RSS news feeds, tagging, wikis, podcasting, online applications, and video and image hosting sites. The complete program is available on this site and you are encouraged to work on it based on the outlined schedule. For further details about the learning porgram, go to the About & FAQ page.
The goals of the Whitby’s 25 Things are wonderfully simple – you should explore, play, and have fun!
The content for this self-discovery program was borrowed and modified from the Learning 2.0 program designed by Helene Blowers, the Technology Director of the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
